Recently, we got a message on Instagram:
“Would you guys like to give a calligraphy workshop on the plaza next to Mission Blue?”

My reaction was immediate.

But I can’t teach calligraphy!

I’ve been practicing for years, but teaching feels like a different level.

I told my mom, “I’m not good enough.”

But she reminded me: I’ve taught calligraphy to friends in our skill-sharing group.

Right, but that was with kids. Adults felt like another level.

And then she said: “Age isn’t the point. Most adults haven’t learned the basic strokes.

And she added, “Mission Blue is a safe place to try.”

That’s what got me.

Two years ago, we reached out to Mission Blue Gifts & Coffee to ask if they’d carry our cards. Kellie, the owner, said yes right away.

Since then, we’ve done pop-ups on the plaza

and a Christmas market there.

It’s a neighborhood community we already know. We recognize faces. People are kind. Supportive. It doesn’t feel like performing for strangers.

So I thought… let’s do it. If I’m going to try something new, this is the place.

Fear can show up, but it doesn’t get to decide.

And now I’m excited. This Saturday, on the plaza next to Mission Blue, we’re doing:

✍️ Free calligraphy practice (relaxed and open to all ages)

Launching our new “letter to the future” box

Here’s how it works: you choose a card and write a letter to your future self (or someone you love). Something supportive. Encouraging. The kind of words you might need later.

We’ll keep it safe and mail it when the time comes.

We love the idea that one letter can show up in your life at exactly the right moment.

💌 First one’s on us: our first “letter to the future” this Saturday is free.

If you’ve been waiting to do something because you don’t feel ready… maybe this is your sign to try anyway.

See you Saturday. 💛
