Ugh. Another week, and we didn't do this. Or that. Or that either.
We'd been having this thought a lot lately.
Somehow, SoliaVenture kept getting pushed to the bottom of our list.
Our days have always been pretty full with schoolwork, dance, choir, and art class. But this year, schoolwork is taking more time, and we also joined Sea Scouts, which takes up most of our Saturday. We love it and we're learning a lot, but our weeks have definitely gotten busier.
So we tried being more organized. We wrote down what we needed to do. We planned our weeks. We blocked out time.
But most of the time, we were trying to fit SoliaVenture into little spaces during the week. An hour here, another hour there.
It still didn't work. By the time we got started on something, it was already time to stop.
We definitely have less time than we used to. But we realized that time wasn't the whole problem. We needed to decide what being committed to SoliaVenture actually looked like.
Last weekend, we had to make a choice.
Maker Faire was happening in the Bay Area, and we really wanted to go. It's exactly the kind of event we love, full of people making and experimenting with ideas.
But we decided to skip it and keep Sunday open for SoliaVenture.
We made ourselves a nice drink, sat down at the table, and started working on our next card and a few other projects. And at the end of the day, staying home felt right.

We don't suddenly have more time. Other possibilities keep coming up.
But being clearer about what we're committed to is making it easier to decide what we want to say yes to.
