🌟 Noticing wins = better mindset. Simple as that.

✏️ Quick Quiz

Lately, do you catch yourself thinking...

☐ “I didn’t get enough done today.”
☐ “I was busy all day, but what did I actually accomplish?”
☐ “I should’ve done better.”

And how often do you...

☐ Actually celebrate something you did well?
☐ Notice a small accomplishment and feel proud of it?
☐ Pause to reflect instead of jumping to the next task?

If any of this sounds familiar, you’re going to want to read on.

💭 The Power of Thoughts

Our minds are experts at pointing out what’s missing.
What we didn’t finished.
What still needs to get done.
Even when we have done something great, we move on so fast we barely notice.

But I’m starting to see how important it is to pause.
To actually notice our wins.
Because celebrating progress helps us stay motivated, think more positively, and feel more connected to what really matters.

Shift your mindset

The best part? You can actually train your brain to do this.
Just like athletes train their bodies, they also train their minds — to stay calm under pressure, to focus on what’s important, and to keep going even when it’s tough.

And this isn’t just for athletes.
Young entrepreneurs need the same skills. (And moms. And... honestly, most of us.)

Running a business (even a small one!) comes with challenges.
Sometimes things won’t work out. You’ll feel stuck. Or unsure. Or way behind.
That’s when mindset makes all the difference.

As sports mental coach Graham Betchart puts it:

Training your mind is like training your body. Gotta get the reps and you got to do it every day. There's no quick fix. There's no overnight success.

One of the tools he teaches is called WIN: What’s Important Now.
It’s simple but powerful.
It helps you stop spinning in thoughts about what you didn’t do — and focus instead on what matters right now.

A Simple Process That Works:

  • 🏆 Notice your wins — big or small.

  • 🔁 Reflect — What helped you get there? What worked?

  • 🎉 Celebrate — Bake something, draw, take a break, tell someone!

  • 🎯 Choose your next WIN — What’s Important Now?

What we’re doing at home

We started something simple: writing down our wins on little cards and hanging them on a string where everyone in the family can see them.
We’ve been adding new ones often — and it’s helping us focus more on what’s working instead of what’s missing.

Here are some of our recent cards:

  • “I finished my card collection for my dance performance — and I love them!” — Z.

  • “I got great feedback from my drama teacher! I’ve been working every day to speak louder, and it paid off.” — S.

  • “I published my newsletter and got two amazing responses! It took me several hours to write — so the positive feedback was a big win.” — S.

  • “I made time to sit down and play Uno! (But didn’t win)” — Mom 😅

  • “I made a vase out of wood (with a little help from my woodworker friend), and in record time!” — Z.

Writing down our wins is such a small thing — but it really shifts how we see the day.
You stop focusing on what didn’t happen and start noticing what did.

Yes, the bathroom still needs cleaning.
Yes, we skipped French. And forgot to stretch.
But guess what? We’ll survive.
