Last summer began in a bakery at 3:00 in the morning, helping braid dozens of loaves before sunrise.
The weeks that followed took us to a butchery, a farm, and a woodworking shop.
Those experiences became some of our favorite stories to share.
They also gave us a glimpse into something that is deeply woven into Swiss culture: apprenticeships.
In Switzerland, many teenagers spend three or four years learning a profession alongside people who have spent decades mastering their craft. If you're curious about how the Swiss apprenticeship system works, we wrote more about it in last year's newsletter.
This summer, we'll once again have the chance to discover a few unfamiliar worlds and see how they work from the inside.
We'll step into a restaurant kitchen, return to a familiar farm, discover what happens behind the scenes in a grooming salon, help care for rabbits and guinea pigs at a boarding home, and even step inside an animation studio in Paris.
Part of the fun is discovering these worlds one by one and sharing them with you along the way.
Over the next two months, we'll continue sending newsletters, just not every Thursday. Instead, we'll write whenever we come back with a story worth sharing.
We can't wait to take you along for the journey.
