There are always more things we could do.
More ideas. More projects. More activities we’d like to fit into our days.
And even more so when we’re building a small business.

January is usually when we pause and look at the year ahead.
We’ve been reviewing what we’re already doing and asking ourselves a simple question:

What actually helps us move forward this year?

Before getting lost in plans, projects, and possibilities, we realized something we rarely talk about here.

Taking care of our bodies.

It sounds obvious. But it’s easy to overlook.
And it’s fundamental. Everything else rests on it.

Energy. Focus. Creativity.
The ability to think clearly, make good decisions, and actually enjoy what we’re doing.

In our family, we come back again and again to four non-negotiables.
Not as rules, but as foundations. And we check in to make sure we’re still on track.

Sleep
Enough of it, and at regular times. When sleep slips, everything else becomes harder.

Food
Real and nourishing. Chosen intentionally. What we eat shows up in our mood and energy.

Movement and sunlight
Walking, running, ballet. Every day, in different forms. Often outdoors. Moving our bodies changes how we feel in them.

Screens
Used when they serve us, turned off when they don’t. Not because screens are “bad,” but because attention matters.

When one of these pillars is off for too long, we feel it.
Not just physically, but mentally. Ideas dry up. Motivation drops. The day feels heavier.

We won’t go deep into each of these. Everyone’s situation looks different anyway.
(Do these four non-negotiables sound hard? Maybe at the beginning. But once they’re part of your life, they stop feeling like effort. They run quietly in the background — a bit like updating your operating system. You don’t notice it, but everything works better afterward.)

We do believe this:

Body care comes before adding more.

A well-cared-for body can hold future projects much better.

So when we think about 2026, this is where we want to improve or adjust first.

  • 🌊 morning walks or runs by the ocean

  • 🥋 starting a new jiu-jitsu class

  • 🚲 riding an indoor bike

Right now, movement is where most of our changes are happening.
Nothing revolutionary. Just intentional and updated. Surprisingly energizing.

If you’re also thinking about the year ahead, maybe the first question isn’t what should I add, but:

Does my body have the capacity to hold what I want to build?

A question worth sitting with before moving forward.

If the answer is yes, growth, challenges, and new opportunities can be welcomed with more ease.
We’ll share more about what we’re starting to build in the coming newsletters.
